Handfasting - Luttrellstown Castle
I asked Donna to craft a handfasting cord and hold a handfasting ceremony for our wedding on the 14th of August, 2025 at Luttrellstown Castle. Donna is full of love and light. Soon as I found her, she arranged a video call to get to know me. She asked about me and my husband and our ties to Ireland and/or any Celtic roots. She was sure to ask what colors we preferred for our cord and provided us with information on the meaning of the color options. She also went out of her way to order any colors that were needed to meet our needs. She even surprised us by adding claddagh details on the ends of the cord!
When holding the ceremony, Donna spoke well (she ran her draft by me before the wedding to make sure I was okay with what she planned to say), and everything she said during the handfasting ceremony was intriguing. She was very informative about the tradition when speaking to our guests. Our family found the handfasting ceremony to be so unique and meaningful
.You can tell that Donna thoroughly enjoys being a celebrant and is a true lover of love. I couldn't recommend reaching out to her enough! She really gives the vibe of someone with a wonderful soul who wants everything to be perfect for your special day of love! Ciarán and I had the absolute pleasure of working with Donna to make our wedding in Wicklow the best day of our lives this October. We attribute the entire atmosphere of the event to her and can't sing her praises enough.
From the second we first got in contact with her she was all go - there for us any time we needed to text or email her, and even willing to travel a fair distance to grab a coffee and talk logistics! She made us feel so comfortable and relaxed, especially me! The more I spoke with her the more my stress melted away and excitement replaced it. She was so open to any ideas we had, was so helpful in bringing them to fruition, was happy to work at our pace, and in general was such a light and such a brilliant person.
The ceremony itself was out of this world and all our guests couldn't stop talking about it - we'd told all of them about Donna beforehand, so they were all very excited and she blew them away! She was so professional, so calming, and really helped guide us through when we were nervous. The poem she wrote for us brought us to tears and we're planning on printing and framing it so we can read it forever more.
She was so willing to get on our wavelength and craft a ceremony that was perfect for us - handfasting, oathing stones, personal vows, involving our families, and just little personal touches that made the day so much more special. She even made our handfasting cord for us.
As a couple who basically had no idea what they were doing, Donna was perfect for us - patient, very friendly and easy to get along with, and clearly such a loving person.
We can't recommend Donna enough, and we're sure we'll see her again at another celebration.

Myself and my wife were married by Donna back in September. We felt so lucky to have found her. Myself and my wife are disasters at making decisions and planning anything becomes such a chore for us very quickly (even if it should be the most exciting day of your life). Donna made it so easy for us. Firstly she was patient. She understood we struggled with decisions so she tried to understand us as people, she got a sense of who we were and what liked. Then all of a sudden the decision making became fun and exciting with all of Donna's ideas and suggestions. We would always feel much lighter and happier after getting off a call with Donna. We’re do we start from the very first interaction with Donna she was so welcoming and her kind nature didn’t go a miss. Nothing ever asked was to big or small she was always so glad to help even if the kids where in the background screaming nothing fazed her. Outstanding and definitely the one that you are looking for if you are looking for the best Celebrant in Ireland, look no further than Donna, she is truly amazing at the job, and her stunning personality and professionalism blew me and my husband away when she married us on 5th of September 2025 in the Springfield Hotel in Leixlip. From the very beginning, she took the time to really understand our relationship, asking the right questions so she had an insight into the most important details of our love story. She then wove them into the most personal, magical and above all hilarious poem that had all of our guests crying, laughing and completely captivating the whole room, including me and Miguel.
Without any fuss at last minute, she gave me her own items which I had forgotten to get for the ceremony. She included all the elements we wanted in our ceremony, but above all she created a stunning handcrafted celtic knot rope for us to tie during the ceremony, a unique and beautiful creation, incorporating material from our loved ones who have passed, which she used to bind our hands together in the old tradition to cement our union. It felt so personal, thoughtful, and unique and I will treasure the rope forever
.Honestly, she was the best wedding celebrant I have ever witnessed in real life, all of my guests were amazed by her easy manner and professionalism. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect ceremony, and we feel so lucky to have had her guide us through such a special moment.
